In 1999, the family-run company revolutionized the eyewear industry with an innovative rimless model that required no screws or hinges—the Titan Minimal Art. This innovative design, manufactured entirely in Austria and weighing just 1.8 grams, was unlike anything the world had ever seen. All Silhouette eyewear is crafted from the highest-quality materials using state-of-the-art technology and the finest craftsmanship. In fact, approximately 80% of the manufacturing process is done by hand. Since 1995, Silhouette Deutschland GmbH has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Silhouette International Schmied AG. Silhouette Deutschland markets and distributes its own brands: Silhouette, evil eye, and NEUBAU. Tom Smits is the managing director of the company in Ludwigsburg.
