Introducing our member:

Since its founding in 1992, LIMO GmbH has been one of the world’s leading manufacturers of optical and beam-shaping solutions and a pioneer in cutting-edge photonic manufacturing processes. Since March 2017, LIMO has been part of the Focuslight Group, with development and manufacturing sites in China, Germany, Switzerland, and Singapore. The company develops and manufactures high-precision micro-optics for diode lasers and beam-shaping optics for UV, VIS, and IR lasers at its facility in Dortmund. The company operates in numerous countries through Focuslight and a large network of distributors, and currently employs 140 people.

Products and Solutions In the field of optical components, LIMO is now one of the world’s leading suppliers of glass microcylinder lenses thanks to its highly productive wafer-based manufacturing technology. LIMO specializes in precision optics for all types of diode lasers—single emitters, bars, and stacks—as well as for all power classes. The optics portfolio includes fast-axis and slow-axis collimation lenses, beam transformation systems, collimation modules, fiber couplers, homogenizers, and microlens arrays.

Drawing on its expertise in optics and beam shaping, LIMO offers optical solutions for all areas of photonics.  In particular, the shaping of application-optimized laser beam profiles opens up new fields of application in the processing of metals, semiconductors, and plastics. In the field of autonomous driving, LIMO optics enable optimal beam profiles for LIDAR and monitoring tasks. Laser sources are also used in medical technology; their manufacture and application are made possible only by LIMO’s beam-shaping optics.    

Through the use of optical transformation technologies, LIMO also offers scalable line-beam geometries that are used to increase the productivity of large-area laser processes, thereby enabling laser technology to be used as a cost-effective solution for mass production.
