Bosch considers quantum technologies to be a key technology of the future. In addition to its research activities in the field of quantum computing, Bosch is also working on quantum sensing. After years of successful research, an internal startup focused on quantum sensing was founded in early 2022: Bosch Quantum Sensing.

This is where the research findings from recent years are consolidated and transformed into innovative products and solutions using agile methods, in order to capitalize on the expected strong market growth. The startup is intended to tap into the strategically important future field of quantum sensing and develop business models for the commercialization of quantum sensors.

The goal is to establish Bosch as a leading provider of quantum sensor products and solutions that improve the quality of life for people around the world. In doing so, users are placed at the center of our activities to create solutions that offer customers real added value.

Quantum sensors enable measurements that are 1,000 times more precise than those made with established MEMS sensors, and thus offer a very wide range of applications.

For example, they can help diagnose neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's more accurately and easily. Other promising markets could include, for example, materials testing, AR/VR control, or driver assistance.

The Ludwigsburg-based startup is part of Bosch’s Automotive Electronics division. Dr. Katrin Kobe (CEO) and Dr. Frederik Schaal (CTO) lead the startup, which consists of highly qualified technology and market specialists who combine both corporate and startup expertise.
